Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand (WANZ) are thrilled to share the exciting news that Dr. Mike Dickison will serve as our New Zealand Wikipedian at Large in the first half of 2024. This initiative is made possible through a generous grant from the Wikimedia Foundation.

Stationed in Christchurch, Mike will collaborate with a diverse array of individuals and institutions, focusing on the adding open knowledge to Wikipedia. A key focus of this project involves providing training and mentorship to people eager to explore the enriching realm of Wikipedia editing. 

Our overarching aim is to enhance diversity within our editor community and, by extension, contribute to a more diverse representation on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms.

We eagerly anticipate the positive impact that this project will have on the realm of open knowledge and extend an invitation to everyone to join us in this collaborative venture.
